DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for the oversight of the Facilities maintenance of the resort. This includes the inside as well as the outside of the building. Will be knowledgeable in Carpentry, Painting, Wall-covering, Roofs, and any other Non Mechanical Building Trades.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
To fulfill these responsibilities, this position will:
Assigning and verifying completion of routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of hotel, which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility.
Visually inspecting quality of work and directing staff and outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity of standards.
Supervises and evaluates approximately 15 hourly and seasonal staff who provide a wide variety of services 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Manages the logistics required of the above operations. Develops and implements scheduling to insure delivery of services to guest and resort associates on a timely basis.
Assist in Developing and implements long- and short-term departmental strategies, policies, procedures, and standards.
Promotes organizational teamwork, participative management, customer service, and collaborative problem solving.
Interprets policies, establishes organizational direction, strategic goals, and objectives.
Provides guidance for complex issues, work management, and resources management.
Facilitates group meetings and establishes and implements staff training programs.
Oversees scheduling functions.
Oversees building maintenance, Exterior, and minor building repairs and renovations.
Inspects resort facilities, prepares work orders, schedules contracted services, coordinates work projects, coordinates operations with other departments, and inspects completed projects.
Reviews staff purchases and requests and data gathering procedures.
Works with other resort departments by reviewing requests for services.
Ensures compliance with relevant local, state, and federal codes.
Collects data and information; maintains records and plans; generates reports; prepares long-range plans; makes recommendations as required.
Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Qualifications: |
QUALIFICATION STANDARD
Minimum 2 years engineering trade experience in general construction and/or hospitality engineering. High school graduate or equivalent required, 2 year college (associate degree preferred). Knowledge of construction and building systems. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches and buttons, a computer keyboard and calculator. Ability to translate technical information or problems into layman's terms, instruct subordinates and accomplish goals on a timely basis. Ability to work varying schedule based on the business needs of the hotel. Must be able to speak English.
