Duties: |
For this critical role, we are seeking a strong contributor who is results-driven and thrive on making significant decisions to impact Transport America’s operations.
The Pricing Analyst position will provide you with great opportunities to make an immediate impact on our business through your achievements. We are looking for an individual who exhibits a strong personal commitment to teamwork and has demonstrated the ability to communicate and influence others.
Specifically, this position will be responsible for:
Assisting Transport America in pursuit of its revenue, efficiency and operating margin objectives by analyzing existing and prospective traffic and providing comprehensive and timely pricing recommendations for team and regional freight in accordance with the company’s market strategies, operating costs and alternative business opportunities.
Work in close cooperation with the sales, profitability and operations groups to develop a strong understanding of the company’s key account objectives, alternative business opportunities, geographic target markets, network density, network balance, capacity considerations and operating cost characteristics. Utilize this understanding, analytical ability and available resources to:
* Develop and communicate pricing recommendations and price bids in response to prospective sales opportunities.
* Assist in the formulation and implementation of pricing strategies for the optimization of operating margins for the company’s key accounts.
* Assist in investigating rate issues, actively manage the rating queue for the customers assigned to the analyst, work with operations/billing to provide assistance with invoice questions/ rating questions. |
Qualifications: |
* BA or BS in economics, finance, business, marketing or alternative with ability to think strategically to capture desirable freight mix.
* 2 or more years of experience in trucking or other transportation industry in pricing team & regional freight.
* Excellent analytical aptitude.
* Excellent communication skills
* Intermediate or higher level of Excel software skill.
* Strong time management skills with ability to consistently meet customer/sales deadlines.
* Self motivated and ability to work independently to create logistics solutions for customers.
* Knowledge of transportation contract guidelines would be desirable but not necessary.
* Knowledge of Regional and Team pricing models with experience in driving new thought processes around pricing regional/team freight.
* Ability to build team/regional pricing models that can be presented and deployed across the company.
