Description: |
| The objective of the Internship is to learn as much as possible and take part in all facets of Turfgrass management operations. The Intern must have the desire to do whatever is needed to continually improve the day-to-day and long-term maintenance of the property. |
Duties: |
| Able to perform any task necessary for the maintenance of the golf course. Safe operation of mowing and maintenance equipment. Perform monitoring and syringing of turf during stress periods. Able to calibrate all types of spreaders and sprayers. It is also necessary to provide instruction to individuals using the spreaders and sprayers. Maintenance and installation of drainage and Irrigation systems. Daily set-up of assigned golf course. Cultivation, pruning, and installation of plants, shrubs, and trees. He/she will lead by example. Communicate effectively with direct supervisor about equipment issues. Work with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to communicate the goals and objectives of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to all associates. |
Qualifications: |
| Enrolled in Bachelors’ degree, college or university program certificate, or 2-4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of years and experience. Active Student member of GCSAA. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general trade and business periodicals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or needs of staff members and guests. Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as calibration rates, proportions, percentages and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to read budgets and interpret numbers. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. |
