Golf Operations Intern

Description:

As a member of the Golf Operations team, the Intern will be involved in all parts of the operation that your experience allows for. If you are coming in as a first level intern, you will be mostly range attendant while also providing assistance to the outside operation team. Second level intern, you are outside operations with some range work. Third and fourth level intern, you will be based in either pro shop, with outside operations/range assistance when needed.

Duties:

Depending on what level you are in regarding your internship experience, some of these duties may not apply to you.

Tend to practice facilities to include Mystic Rock range, Links range and Learning Academy range.

Assist with outside operations at both golf courses on a daily basis to include tee sheet management, event operations, light cart maintenance, general upkeep of surrounding areas, cleanliness of cart barns and rental sets, Five Star Five Diamond guest service, associate service, as well as other duties on a daily basis.

Assist in either pro shop (The Nike Shop at The Links and Mystic Rock pro shop) to include answering phone calls, taking tee times over the phone or face to face, ringing golfers in using our POS system (Micros), general knowledge of golf equipment, communicating with outside operations and ranger/starter, merchandising, and selling the products we offer.

Communicate to Golf Operations Leader or Manager of any issues to include carts, guests complaints, associate issues, etc.

Have general knowledge of available merchandise (in pro shop), course conditions, rates, hours of operations for golf ops as well as all outlets throughout the resort.

Working knowledge of the sport of golf; general terminology.

Learn and adapt course knowledge with guests and members.

Have knowledge of 2000 acre resort in regards to giving directions to guests.

Assist with tournament operations as needed.

Assist with outside operations as needed to include Caddiemaster.

Communicate with golf ops staff and turfgrass staff professionally and clearly using our hand-held two-way radios.

Communicate effectively with all departments throughout the resort.

Qualifications:

Able to be culturally sensitive and effective in a multi-cultural setting.

Ability to work weekends/holidays, days or nights with flexible hours.

Valid driver’s license.

Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, talks or hears. Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Ability to speak professionally to guests, around guests and likewise with all departments at the resort.

Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking guests or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
